LaunchNext 2.4.0 adds Trackpad Gestures, Hot Corners, Dock Drag, and App Uninstaller

LaunchNext 2.4.0 is the first release that feels close to the original vision. After months of iteration, this version adds the missing native interactions that make a Launchpad replacement actually feel at home on macOS.

Highlights

Native Trackpad Gesture

Four-finger pinch-in can now open LaunchNext. Spread-to-close and tap-to-dismiss are optional. It is still marked experimental, but this is one of the most important steps toward making LaunchNext feel truly native on macOS.

Hot Corners

You can assign any screen corner to open LaunchNext, with configurable delay and trigger area size. It is a small change in theory, but in practice it makes opening apps feel almost frictionless.

Drag Apps to Dock

Apps can now be dragged directly from LaunchNext into the macOS Dock. This took extra work because it had to coexist with LaunchNext’s own drag-and-drop system for rearranging icons and folders.

App Uninstaller Integration

Right-click any app and uninstall it with your preferred external tool, such as AppCleaner. The context menu also got broader improvements in this release, including better app management actions.

More Improvements

  • Separate settings for fullscreen mode and compact mode
  • Better performance through on-demand icon loading
  • Optional Core Animation rendering path with smoother animations
  • Layout import and backup tools for easier migration
  • Expanded language coverage and onboarding improvements
